Just curious if anyone's on site yet who can give a "what warbirds are there so far" report... Thanks in advance,

From this mornings avweb release:

The Commemorative Air Force has increased its presence at Sun 'n Fun with a mass arrival of priceless aircraft that represent a storied period in aviation history. Among the CAF aircraft confirmed for the event are P-51D Mustang Red Nose, LT-6 Mosquito, Douglas SBD-5 Dauntless, PT-26 Cornell, Curtiss SB2C Helldiver and the B-25J Mitchell Yellow Rose. Red Nose will be available for public flights. There will also be privately owned warbirds taking part.

It is Tues. eve. Has been a nice day here in Fla., party cloudy, not too hot. I don't have numbers , but is seems there's about half or 2/3 normal warbirds, weather has been bad to the NW, ground is soaked from Sun rains. Glad I decided to leave my plane in Co. , but wish it was here now. Warbird show, a CJ, I think, some T-28s, Julie Clark T-34, no fighters or bombers that I saw. On ramp is T-6, 5 Mustangs, 1 Corsair, a jet, some T-28s. No Jug, Spit, Fury, P-40, Hurri, P-38, FW or 109 as far as I saw.
Interesting static engine by Graham White, a rare Continental 1430, inverted inline V-12. intended for P-37 or P-59??, like smaller P-38, never made production.

Can you give any more info on the -38 and German aircraft that you saw, Bill?

The only 109/190 in flyable or near flyable condition down there are Blair's 190's. Did one of his Flug Werk's finally fly and make it to the show?

Very interested!!! :D

A real nice day in Lakeland, just starting to get warm in mid to high 80s, and blue skies with broken cu. A few more Mustangs on the ramp, and a Fury and AD. A pretty good volume of T-6, etc, on the outer parking area, looks mostly full. The newspaper referred to the CAF as the air force you never heard of! Their display is well located and seems to be popular. It would market better with some beautiful ladies in front instead of Ted and Ed, but what can you do?
