I'm with you Robbie, it shouldn't be that big a deal. When I was in Spain a few months ago, bare breasted women appeared in ads in the newspaper and it was no big deal. But God forbid you paint up an authentic restoration with authentic nude artwork in the US.
This has nothing to do with Anyone in this thread regarding Nose art, Though I do adore Miss Yellow Rose, and other maidens that have adorned the Bomber....Any Bomber.. PC definitely sucks, and as we are Americans, we have been beaten into submission, least we "offend" anyone....I concur the the Name Change for the CAF was necessary to keep the program going....So with that, I can't complain....Ya know, and I say again, this is not directed to anyone in the WIX.... and since there are a lot of whinning "citizens" out there, I seem to recall a couple of B-17s of WWII...and the Nose Art was Quityerbitchin (or Quitcherbitchin) and Quityerbitchin II (or QuitcherbitchinII) It would be a great Sub-limin-anul message to the whinners, at least that is merely my opinion. S**t I just love touching feeling, seeing, and hearing a Warbird, I really don't give a tinkers darn as to what is painted on the side.
Later....peace out
Gary the only one I know is from the book Plane Names & Fancy Noses on the 91st bomb group. Quitchurbitchin, a B-17F-20-BO code DF-E. I think but not positive but there may be others(bombers)?

Steve- I had the same problem when I did my last post: came up 3 times- got one removed, and recontexted the second.

I tried something that worked for me on another site which was giving me a similar problem- I deleted the existing cookies for the site. There were about 8 or 9 different ones for WIX already! Hopefully it is something that will work regularly...

I love the fat that the Gen. escrted a woman out that complained about the noseart on the B-24 Strawberry Bitch. We explained to her what it was all about, and she said that she thought we should change it to Strawberry Gal. The Gen. said, "Well that's it, you don't need to be here, and kicked her out.

And, unfortunately, the pendlum of PC has yet to reach its outward bound zenith. It will only get worse in coming years.
Also please remember, those of us who are decended from Norman/Saxon stock arrived here because our ancestors were far too uptight for the straight laced English of that time-(some of my forebearers were in that crowd)
I enjoy watching TOP GEAR on BBC America, but it upsets me when the 'censors' here bleep words that just about everyone hears in the course of everyday life and aren't even blinked at by Brittons.
CBS is still being flogged over Janet Jacksons nano second hooter, and now the morals cops are attempting to get some sort of fines out of the now long defunct NYPD Blue series over some chicks .35 second exposoure of her tushy :x :x

Steve Dickey and gary1954,

There were several B-17s named "Kwitcherbitchen" and other spellings. Here is a link to an earlier thread. I'll try to find that line drawing and re-post it later. http://warbirdinformationexchange.org/p ... en&start=0

One of my neighbors on the farm in Nebraska, H. Keith Burney, was the airplane commander of one of them. I don't know the Bomb Group (yet) but I do know that he was in the 15th Air Force. Kip never spoke of his wartime service much, but the one story he did tell me was how proud he was to be a part of his crew. They finished Phase Training and were sent to Sioux City AAF (sixty miles east of his home) to pick up their brand-new B-17G prior to overseas shipment. On one of their shakedown missions, Kip decided to give his family a buzz-job. There is a little valley just south of his boyhood home (and where he raised cattle for most of his life) and he went down that valley on the way to a practice bombing range. He then gave his family a good view of the top of his new pride and joy while they stood in the back yard of the house. Whenever I get home and fly over or drive past 'the Burney place' I always think of the little glimmer in his eye when he told me what they'd done that day.

We miss ya, Kip.

Thanks man, look forward to the read....I was in the military back in the mid 70's and my then wife didn't care for airplanes in any way, shape, or form. I had a friend who's father was a B-25 pilot in the Pacific, he said that his father never talked about his "role" in WWII, he generally put the conversation to an end by saying (or words to this affect) watching a man explode when you hit him with 50 caliber machine guns is not a pretty sight, and something I don't want to talk about. So, he never did...I would have loved to have seen his photos and maybe picked his brain....but with alerts, and a wife that wanted to go every where, it was hard to nail down vets.....and now, they seem to be slipping the bonds of earth much to rapidly....and they are taking their chapters in history with them. I ran into an F-86 pilot from the Forgotten war, and he said that he appreciated my interest in his career in the AF, as none of his children or his Grandson had any interest what so ever......

I forgot the S/N of the 91st bird, 41-24505, if that helps Jack find a photo? Mine are in two books and I can't scan and post

Yup !

Keep at it and you'll soon turn into... well... Canadians !

Indeed, here in Canada we cannot call things by their name anymore and the PC freaks have invented euphemisms for everything: vertically challenged for short people, visually deficient for blind, hearing impaired for the deft, well, you catch the drift...

It's just crazy and stupid. Things are what they are and by trying to avoid bruising people's sensitivities at all cost, you end-up saying nothing anymore. I hate it.

Here is the line drawing of "Kwitcherbitchin" from Squadron Signal's publication "Flying Fortress-The Boeing B-17" by Ernest R. McDowell, and posted on the other thread by Andy in West Oz.

I think this is the Fort flown by my farm neighbor, Kip Burney.

I call those PC thugs "Mentally Deficient" That's my euphemism for an annoying person who has to force their idiocy on others in the name of sensitivity. Remember- if they can't take a joke, let them go find something to do with themselves... :) I also ignore them. That's called Freedom of Expression.
