Hi Joe,
From your description of the transport, it sounds like a C-33 (DC-2 "flat-sided" fuselage with a DC-3 rudder). Many years ago I remember having found out that there were C-33s in Hawaii at the time of the attack, and I heavily modified a C-47 kit to look more like a C-33 for my aborted Pearl Harbor movie project...
