Hi Guys. I know The guys plan to bring glacier girl over in 2009, but in the UK mag Aeroplane there is a short story with the owner of liberty belle and he says he would like them to come over with him.

Any news on this story? i've checked airshowbuzz and there is no update there.

Either way us brits are gonna be in for a treat!!!

"Bolero III June 2009

With the utmost respect for this priceless global treasure, Mr. Lewis and the Bolero team have decided such an arduous journey requires more time. He has discovered that a batch of radiators will only last ten hours before the piece fails. This kind of failure would be catastrophic crossing the North Atlantic and Mr. Lewis is not willing to jeopardize this priceless piece of history. To overcome this challenge, the team is pursuing new technologies to ensure the Girl makes it safely to the UK. Instead of working on a short window of a summer crossing this year, the team will pursue all remedies for a safe and successful adventure in 2009."

The radiators only last 10 hours? What did they do 60 years ago?

Oh, those were the old Mark I, 2000 hour radiators, these are the new and improved Mark II, 10 hour radiators.

If Martin Caidin can be believed, the P-38 program nearly came to an end early on because of cooling problems. This last trip of GG was cancelled due to a cracked cylinder liner (if I correctly remember the tutorial I read here, from cooling problems and corrosion) and if I owned the plane, I'd be questioning what could possibly go wrong on a trip like that right up to the moment I got indigestion and sleepless nights while it was happening. Unlike the wine a good crew chief never allows to age, 63+ year old parts don't get better with age.
