That there is an A&P mechanic out in the field who has my SS# as his certificate number?
The FAA in OKC brought this to my attention about a week ago. But they did not tell me whether its a good thing or bad thing.

If you have something from them about this, I'd get a letter off to them requesting that they work with the mechanic and get it changed immediately. If he won't cooperate, I would start talking to the legal side of the FAA about a resolution. Anything you do with them over this should be by registered mail so it can't go "lost", and keep copies. At the same time, I would pull my credit reports and check them, and put freezes on them at the same time. I would also notifiy SS that there could be a problem with your number being used and that you are requesting an audit of your account. I was under the impression that the FAA had changed the number of digits in use and had ceased to use SSN's a number of years ago.
