What significant WWII aircraft examples no longer exist? Or should I say no longer exist that are fully, or close to fully restored examples. My partial list:

1. Betty bomber
2. Val dive bomber
3. Kate torpedo bomber
4. I believe a few RAF bombers

It would be nice to have at least ONE example of every significant aircraft of WWII on display somewhere in the world.

Your list?

PBY-4
P-400
A-35

I am pretty sure several Kate and Vals survive.

POF has a Val which is essentially complete and was flyable at one time.

Is the POF Val real or is it a Tora Bird- I too thought that only a few really smashed up examples (one I think at Nimitz Musuem) survived.

POF's Val is a real Val with a B-25 QEC engine set-up for power.

The one that always comes to mind is the P-43 Lancer.

As to the Betty, probably correct in that none may be complete & in a museum. Trust me when I say that I was given a DVD last Sept. by an Aussie working on Guadalcanal that had a couple of photos of a pretty complete Betty fuselage in the jungle in PNG. I'm not at liberty to post it until I can get an OK from him and we've not been in contact for a few months.
Last thing I want to do here is start a wild argument, but there are at least some Betty remains left in the world.

Mike is right, the NMNA has put it on loan to a museum in Finland.
