Hi All,

I had another productive weekend and you will find some new videos posted. Here is the overview...

Last September at Vintage Wings on the practice day for the Battle of Britain Memorial Flypast a number of veteran pilots visited Vintage Wings. I had the very good fortune to speak to Bill McRae. When I mentioned I would like to record some of his comments he was happy to oblige. I figured we would chat for 5 or 10 minutes. Mr. McRae talked for over a half hour! I found his recollections to be extremely interesting as they revealed what life was like for an airman, or so I thought. See what you think. You can find the video links here...

Mr. McRae wasn’t the only veteran pilot who wanted to talk; Charlie Fox was also willing to chat. I wanted to record, in his words, his memories and thoughts about the Spitfire attack which injured General Erwin Rommel in his staff car. Mr. Fox was the gentleman who was flying the Spitfire and he told me the story of that day. You can view the video here...

The Canadian Warplane Heritage did not only visit with their Lancaster that day (see http://www.aerialvisuals.ca/TheaterLobb ... r%20Flight), but they also provided their B-25 as a photo ship. I was in a perfect position to get photos of this bird during it’s departure. That was an exit I will never forget! You can find the video here...

Vintage Wings also took possession of a Canadair Sabre 5 last fall. I was there to take pictures of the arrival. Fortunately Carolyn Leslie, the VWoC Hangar Manager, was on-hand and she volunteered to video the event for me while I took the photos. Thanks to Carolyn you now can view the arrival of the Sabre to Gatineau Executive airport...

I hope you enjoy the videos. I am currently working on the video shot at the Gathering of Mustangs and Legends last September in Columbus, Ohio. I got some great footage. I’ll let you know when the videos are posted. It will take a while as there is much to sort through.

Mike

Just curious, has there been much progress on the Sabre? Can't wait to see that flying as a Golden Hawk next year.

Also, nice Mitchell Video. I had the good fortune to fly on her once, with the same crew on board, they really know how to handle that plane!

Thanks Dave. I am glad you like them. I think I have consumed all of my raw VWoC video. Next videos will be from GML, both vets and aircraft. It will take me a while to work my way through it all.

There reason you haven't heard much recently is I have been taking a break from VWoC the last few months. We get busy during the summer so I try to take a break over the winter. I have started working on a press release for the Sabre and other projects in the hangar, it should be out this week. In the mean time all is going well.

I am glad you liked the B-25 video. Trust me, it is not nearly as good as actually being there. I swear the hairs on my arms were standing stright-up as they made that pass. I am suprised I manaaged to keep it in the frame as they went right over my head. It was quite a rush.

Mike

As far as the Sabre is concerned if its not ready it sure won't be for lack of effort. These were taken recently of the crew hard at work! Also a shot of the Orenda 14 currently undergoing some work she should easily be able to handle the hours planned. A very energetic flight schedule is in the works.
I was on the ramp marshalling that day for the B25 and Mike is right the video doesn't do it justice the CWH crew outdid themselves.
Great stuff Mike especially Bill McCrea's story.
