This in an interesting thread here and looks like a good place to re-post a thread I just started on the aerobatics & racing forum.
What ever became of aerobatic pilot Betty Skelton? My dad has always thought she was pretty hot and now that I'm so deeply involved in warbirds and vintage av. he bugs me constantly to find out. Seems like she flew a Pitt or something similar called "Little Stinker" with a skunk for nose art.

Anybody got anything on this?

That reminds me - my father had a huge crush on Joyce Case, who flew a kick-ass routine in her Pitts. Not sure what ever happened to her, either.

Betty Skelton's S-1C is the first plane you see when you go in Udvar-Hazy in Washington.

I recieved a note from the women at the 99's this is it and this is a double post so i will delete shortly..........

The synergy in The 99s never ceases to amaze me. I sent your photo to 3 of our 5500+ members and got this in return:

Hello all, I have an 8x10 print of the photo. The names are scribbled on the back, approximately behind each woman, so a little difficult to be sure. The photo is not dated. A note at the bottom “Annette Gipson Race, all women – usually held Memorial day”

Left to right standing: 1. Arlene Davis, 2. no name, 3. Evelyn Sevorskey (? spelling), 4. Marjorie Ludwigson, National Secretary, N Y Section Governor, 5. no name, 6. no name, 7. Mrs. I J Fox, Ferriers Sponsor, 8. Annette Gipson, 9. Suzanne Humphreys.

Left to right Seated: 1. Edith Descomb, 2. Frances Marsalis, 3. Helen Richey, 4. Amelia Earhart, 5. Amy Mollison, 6. Ruth Nichols. Frances Marsalis worked for WACO Sales at Roosevelt Field in New York. She was killed in an airplane crash in 1934.

That's great! Thanks for the info.

I was totally wrong with my WAG on these women...(not the first time I've been wrong about women  )

Captain Elizabeth A. Okoreeh-Baah, attached to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 263, is recognized as the very first female MV-22 Osprey pilot.

Erin Rheinschild,

Does she still fly? I remember that she flew Risky sometime back about 5 to 10 years ago at the Reno Air Races, and had an engine problem that scared the crap out of her. I haven't heard a peep about her since then. Did this event "retire" her from Reno forever?

I've always had a little case of the puppy love for Major Nicole Malachowski. Yesterday I found myself in KSAN as the Women in Aviation conference was going on so I decided to head on over and check it out. As I'm standing by the water cooler rehydrating I look up over and there she was. The first female thunderbird in history and probably the cutest they'll ever see. I only drooled a little. Enjoy.

There's nothing hotter then a lady with brains and the ability to kick a$$.
Really good convention by the way.

I was a new co-pilot at Central Airlines in 1958. On one segment, there were no passengers so it was training time for me. The Captain told me to do a Canyon Approach maneuver with a pull up to the right (where he pulled the right engine), a standard training chore at the time. As I struggled through, Joyce, the Stew was standing between the seats watching. The Captain growled that even a girl could do better than that and let the girl show you how it's done. It was perfect! I was crushed and started thinking about going to other lines of work in the future.

At the bar in AMA that night, the truth came out just who Joyce really was and we all had a good laugh about it. I flew quite a few other trips with Joyce. She was a great person and a great pilot but unfortunately, the airline wasn't ready for female pilots then and she moved on to high positions at Beechcraft. Last I heard (many moon ago) she was in charge of Cherokee sales there.

Her Dad, Dean Case, built one of the first Pitts Specials which is the one Joyce preformed in. Later on, during a layover in Wichita, the co-pilot (a hotshot ex-fighter pilot) went along with Joyce in a Great Lakes she had and lost his cookies! He never got over it and later became an Air Traffic Controller.

For you Patty Wagstaff fans, let's just say you won't find many friends of hers in the aerobatic community.

I'm an aerobatic pilot and I think Patty is awesome.

She has always been perfectly kind to me - even in my early days, when I emailed her out of the blue.

I believe you are mistaken.
