I just confirmed today that I am planning on going to the Lone Star Flight Museum Show April 26-27 at Galveston. I'm sure there will be a number of WIX folks there.

Bill, how long does it usually take you to fly down? How many stops do you make? Last time you came down with the slipper tank on,... can you make all the way with it ?? Just curious. :?:

Well, I will be there. Im sure Canso will too. As well as some other LSFM WIXers.

Trae, I usually bring the slipper tank, an extra 60 gal US that Nelson built, if I am going to Sun N Fun. I also took it to Geneseo. For shorter trips I usually don't take it. First, I don't do acro with it on, and the extra fuel is great in the wide open spaces, but since you want to run the tank dry and not land with it heavy it is one more planning item. When I get there I have to find 2 or 3 guys to help carry it, then 3 to put it back on even if it is a quick easy job and does not require tools, it does take willing hands. There are lots of LSFM volunteers, but folks are pretty busy too. As of now I have an airline ticket for $219 Round Trip Denver to Lakeland. I can barely go around the pattern for that with $4.50 gal fuel, so Texas may be my first show.
On internal fuel I plan a max 1:30 cruise or about 350 n. m. leg, which gives about a 35min, 110 mi reserve. Economy cruise is 1800rpm about 0 or +2 lbs, at 11,500 at 245mph true airspeed, and will average about 50 gph. I can make Dalhart my first stop, then usually one more Breck or somewhere. the tank would add 1:10 if I used it. I might try to join up with Howard if he goes to Houston a little early. Don't really know yet. Let's pray for good weather.
