I'm just in a PBY kind of mood. Here are some videos I found on youtube that have some good footage.

And here's a good series about the PBY:

part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SvcczzRL ... re=related
part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nG2vgK9d ... re=related
part 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1It_hcQl ... re=related
part 4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6zNRgl_ ... re=related
part 5: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbB8z7ed ... re=related

This is a great video of the Canso operated by the Saskatchewan Gov't for waterbombing. The main airplane in the shots is no other than the Canso now living in Duxford.

And I had to add this one.

If anyone can find some more black and white videos of PBY's I'd love to see them. Post'em on here.

Cheers,

David

P.S. Sorry that this is posted in the "hangar" but I don't know how much attention it would get if it were put straight into the "Base Theatre." Maybe it could be put there in a day or two.

David, The videos are awesome! I haven't had time to look at all the 'Great Planes' segments but I especially like the one of C-FNJB and NJF flying together. My guess is that the photo ship was the other Prov. of Sask. Catalina, C-FUAW. It was yellow with bright red trim, like the older Quebec color scheme. In one view, the photo ship showed to have yellow wing struts.

David, I bet the guys on PBY@Yahoogroups.com would get a kick out of seeing these. Heck some of those guys like David Legg or Matt Gunsch for example might even be in them!

I'm always in a PBY mood! And a part of the PBY group at yahoo. I'll send the link to 'em.

There's also a group I'm with on yahoo called CV-Canso. It's a group mainly concentrating on the PBY's built in Canada. Anyone interested should check it out.

Cheers,

David McIntosh
