Just wondering. Didn't think it was, but hadn't seen this shot before.

kevin

p.s.- It came from this bunch of photos, which has quite a few warbirds in civilian colors

Inspector-

So do you think it's the one that's in Colorado in storage now?

Yes, that is AM927, when owned by Continental Can. Neat picture, thanks for posting.

Check the logo on that hangar--it's the same as AM927 wore when with Continental Can Corporation.

And another photo that clinches it--two-piece windshield.

Cool stuff!

The first photo is at the CCC homedrome at MMU, the hangar is still standing.

B-23 at Pima in current colors "Great Lakes Carbon Company" This is the same as in the pics with AM927 at KMMC.

Thanks, Bill--it's neat that both aircraft would be together then and still with us today. That B-23 is beautiful, by the way.

Speaking of MMU, the last time I was working on 927 a nice couple were touring the museum and hangar. They asked me if that was the same airplane that once belonged to Continental Can, and I told them it was. The husband then told me that when he was in flight training for his private at MMU he used to see AM927 a lot, and that she was originally flown by CCC in natural metal finish. He didn't know when they painted it. Anyone have pictures from that timeframe?

"Storage" is kind of a generous term. "Rotting away" might be more appropriate. Last I saw/heard of AL557 (the ex M-K bird) it was sitting outside fully exposed to the elements.

I have some color pics of AL557 shortly after it was abandoned in Alaska in 1959. I'll try to get them posted up.
