Lt.Sulzbach was making a strafing pass on a truck and mushed into some trees(forest).
Flew it back to base and after examing the P-47 the usual cocky pilot with a grin was more sereous and said if he knew how bad of shape the "Boat" was in he dosen't beleive he would have tried flying home.
Next day he shot down 2 German planes.

"Rapin Ravin" the pilot is Maj. Edward J. Gabor CO of the 345 FS.
KIA on May 2,1945 .
Sad case ,he flew almost 200 missions only to lose his life on one of the last missions flown by the group.
5D3 "Flak Happy" and 5C6 made it through the war with 150plus missions on there right side.
The 345 FS colors were a dark blue and yellow not black/white or black/yellow seen on most decal sheets.
All these comments from Keith Vizcarra and Bob Shifflet, good guy's!

LOL!!

That is awesome! Look at the chief's expression--just like your date's Dad when you brought her home after curfew! :D
