This is my current build a P-38J flown by Warren "Beans" Campbell of the 94th FS, 1st FG, 15th AF.
Kit is a Hasegawa 1/48 P-38J/L with Tally HO decals, Eduard PE, True Detail wheels and EZ canpony mask.

Cockpit is almost done, just need to add belts and some other small details. I have started some work on the booms.

Looking forward to seeing it. has Beans was a good friend of mine. He was a great composer of music and a fantastic piano player. My wife plays his music occasionally.
The story of the naming of the plane is unusual. Upon leaving for cadets he promised his gal to name his plane after her. But, he met and married his wife after he got his wings. But, to Beans, your word is your word and the x-girlfirends name went on the P-38. His plane was subject forbidden in the Campbell house for nearly 50 years!!! Beans died about 18 months ago

Jack, that's a good story!

I've made some progress since I'm off work.

She's on her feet now. Almost needed three hands to get the gear legs together. I rebuilt the nose gear leg by extending the leg to give it more of tail low stance. I also turned it to the left some. Spinners were reworked a bit and I scribed a line around just above the holes for the props. They are not attached yet, just sitting there.

The decals are pretty much done along with most of the weathering. Hope to finish it up this weekend.
