Chuck Yeager Syndrome. The same though could be said for several other well-known pilots just as it could for a select few NASCAR drivers or basketball players. Some people, like Bob Hoover, see celebrity as a chance to involve and engage as many people as possible in the activity that they love. Others just let their egos spin themselves up in a whirlwind of self-promotion. Soapbox off.

Concerning Mary Dilda, I heard a rumor that she has given up air racing for the time-being. Anybody know if this is true?

I always liked Sue Parish. I saw her in Harlingen with her P-40. She seemed to fly smoother than the guys.

Hi, all. Newby here.

My Favorite: Hazel Ying Lee.

You have to give a shout-out to Queen Bess Coleman, too.

And Jack, I tip my hat to your cousin.

I'd also heard "Two Of Hearts" was up for sale.

Gentlemen,

Another aviatrix to consider is Dianna (nee Converse) Bixby. She attempted to break the around-the-world speed record in 1950 with de Havilland Mosquito N1203V but failed. Another attempt was scheduled for 1954, but unfortunatley she died in the crash of an A-20 off the Baja coast.

I submitted an article to the non-profit American Aviation Historical Society journal detailing her brief involvement with Mosquito N1203V. Hopefully, the article will re-introduce and document her flying skills and history for public scrutiny.

My vote is for Julie Clark. I've flown in the back of airliners she was flying and flew with her in her yellow T-28. We had a landing gear problem with the T-28 that day, and she did a great job of getting it squared away, with no damage to the plane or either of us.

I would lobby for the Gorgeous Anna Walker over in the UK flying her Jungmann (or Jungmeister?) for years....also dating one of the warbird pilots over there last I hear, forget his name....

Here in Denver flying for 9 news we have Amelia Earhart, the chopper pilot, and as I recall she IS related to the original Amelia Earhart...don't know HOW she is, but she is...
