I wonder why KC-45A and not KC-30A??
RAAF has designated their A330MRTT tankers - KC-30B !
I thought that this was in defference to the A model designation for the USAF...

As usual Mike, you are correct with the A310 MRTT. My error. The A330 MRTT has not yet delivered a drop of fuel as far as I know.

The "KC-30" label, which is used by Northrop Grumman for their proposed tanker version of the EADS/Airbus A330, is not an official DOD designation. If the "KC-30" is indeed procured by the U.S. Air Force, it will almost certainly by designated as KC-45A, because that MDS has been officially reserved for the USAF's tanker replacement program ("KC-X").

u.s. business going off shore isn't 1/2 the problem.......... the other 1/2 of the problem is it's already on shore!! the planners could have done a little more shopping to keep it in another worthy u.s. company. the bid process is very flawed & corrupt.

Let me get this straight Mike, you are willing to trade 44 THOUSAND, GOOD PAYING, jobs for 2000 low paying 'blanket bunny' jobs in Alabama?????
Any fool who believes that anyone hired in Alabama is going to do much beyond attach assemblies and parts made elsewhere in the world must be delusional or smoking crack, or hasn't asked the folks in gopher nose Mississippi how they're likin' their $8.50 an hour job 'assembling ' another French product, the new ARMY repalcement for the UH-1 (remember it? needs an airconditioning system to protect the avionics suite from the intollerable 92 degree heat on the flight deck)
I very much and very deeply RESENT what is supposed to be my government shipping my tax dollars to a bunch of arrogant morons who have managed, in history to only win one war (the French Revolution), and in exchange, I get a poorly made, low dollar, YUGO with a lot of seats?
NORGRUMBUS may be dancing in the streets now, as perhaps they should be. If you are dancing in the streets over this I'll be sure and check back with you in a few years when those piles of crap are grounded due to structural issues or because some French politico got a knot in his beret and shut off the supply of spares to keep them flying are suddenly 'unavailable'.
One thing is for certain, the shadow of Full Condom (Phil Condit) still looms large over this entire mess.
I really hope that both CNN and FOX cover the raising of the French Tricolor over the Pentagon this coming Monday.
And I really hope not to see that little rat faced s**t bag McCain doing a happy dance over this.

korea- stalemate,
vietnam - lose withdrew,

The US has never been invadedand taken over totally since 1850 where France has been invaded numerous times.

Japan, Germany supplied their own armies, everyone against them brought either US or UK built items as they were only ones allowed to in the war..... kind of like selected options ...yes or no..

WWII in Europe was actually about 70% won by the Soviets, using mostly their own hardware and a lot of blood. HGUCSU is correct this time, the US did not win WWII, but it was an invaluable part of the team that did.

Hello All...
As a A&P Systems Mechanic who's worked the DC-10, Boeing 767 and AirBus A300-600R, My humble opinion is that the AF will eventually be sorry of their choice... All 3 a/c have performed great over the years, but the biggest problems I see are of parts procurement when components age and fail.
Airbus is tough as hell to get approval to manufacture the most simplest of structure parts that need replacement due to normal wear and tear. You buy their parts at an astronomical price, period !!! Components, when ordered, take forever to arrive. Now, AB does wharehouse here in the states, but most of the components come in from the country of manufacture.. I can just imagine , with the European "lifestyle" of striking if that hair in their nose gets bent, of how parts could be procured if the "Political" picture of the U.S. differed from their own beliefs.. Anybody remember the bullcrap the AF ran into when they wanted to fly our F-111's direct to hit Tripoli???
Our men and women of the Armed Forces need and deserve the best we can give them. Let's hope that that will happen

So what happens when countries who the US oppose on any kind of issues, get trade sanctions imposed and they cant use their US made tools of war ..

So why is it ok for other countries to suffer part delays and embargoes, yet if the US get slapped with one it will be somehow so different?
