Thank you Django. Wethering is specific for the airplane operated over the ocean. main point is to get a little bit bletched areas as well sun light is very strong. But no dust and mud... only original dirt coming from airplane.

Very nice! :supz:

The only minor critique I might have is the paint chipping. In a salt water environment, any chipping that exposed bare metal would be quickly touched up to protect from corrosion.

Thank you gentleman and special thanks to Sean- this is first time ever to get compliments for images. Steve- I know for this but I have seen on images damaged paint on the same leading edge. And only there. You have nice spot this.

Cheers :P

It looks great, but the colors are wrong, I heard the Lone Star Hellcat is the most accurately painted Hellcat around.

your colors are correct, the lone star hellcat has to have THE worst paint job of any warbird flying, I did not think a Hellcat could look bad, but they have proven me wrong, check out this link http://missingaircrew.com/images/f6f/hellcat_08.jpg

I've been considering building an F6F in the markings of VF-8 as flown by Cmdr. Daniel Rehm off the Light Carrier USS Bataan...So far I haven't been able to find any official squadron markings..The Nat'l. Museum of Naval Aviation in Pensicola doesn't have anything much to offer. This was late 1943/44. Truk, Marshalls & Marianas era..I don't think they were flying with the red outline on the national star and bar insignia at this time.
Anyone have any ideas or suggestions. Maybe they didn't have any distinctive markings.
Tom

I have visited with Cmdr. Rehm's family and gone thru his personal pictures but I guess he was too busy fighting a war to have a picture made with his Hellcat. I asked the NMNA in Pensacola if they had any record of the bulletin no. for his Hellcat but they said there records didn't show any specific plane assigned to him. I found that a little strange. He passed away before I could have a sit down with him. He has plenty of postwar pictures of his Naval reserve Hellcats when he served as a squadron comdr. at NAS New Orleans. He had 13 kills before being rotated back to the states....Tom
