I always liked the Herky Bird, even before I advanced from grade school...finally got my chance to be around them while serving with the 10Worst...funny thing is...I have about 100+ takeoffs in them, and maybe 15 landings in them....

P: Noise coming from under instrument panel. Sounds like a midget pounding on something with a hammer.

S: Took hammer away from midget.

Other than the nearest one being a "J" model, it's just another trash hauler. (2800 hrs. as an FE in them)

Old SAR Pilot's about there... The visible Herc is, of course, a 'J'. The clue would be that it's visiting Point Cook, home of the RAAF Museum, so yes, different models, and schemes, but which and what makes the grouping unique (dull though the photo is and somewhat of a stretch in interest...)

Well, I've got a soft spot for 'em!

Currently sitting in a hotel room at Warner Robins - helping the guys get one of ours back in the air & training them on our special model (one of 3 they don't just CLEP into...)

Saw one last week that was getting a new center wing box...quite daunting what they do, how far it comes apart, and that it actually flies again!! :D

Here's my return home from OIF - 15 May 03:

For height reference, the top of the vertical stab is about 38 feet when it's on wheels...

During my apprenticeship at QANTAS we had the contract to service the girls. From a sheeties point of view they are a dream to work on compared to a Jumbo or 767.
