Someone might like it, but for me there are some aircraft I would have liked to see (B17, B-25, P-40 and Hellcat). Anyway...

P: Noise coming from under instrument panel. Sounds like a midget pounding on something with a hammer.

S: Took hammer away from midget.

check out his other book "cockpit" for more WWII (and other vintage) aircraft interiors:

http://www.amazon.ca/Cockpit-Illustrate ... 1550463748

he's also got another book called "gunner" that covers turrets, waist gun positions etc.

btw, when I say he I mean the Donald Nijboer & Dan Patterson duo.

cheers!

Hi Greg, :)
Yep, I bought these two, although I didn't like much of the images in the "Gunner".

But what urged to buy the "Cockpit", believe it or not, was when I found out this website in Russia: http://www.aeronautics.ru/archive/wwii/ ... age_01.htm

I haven't checked it thoroughly, but I believe all the images from the book are there.

Cheers,
SC.

Thanks for the on-line link.
Another book with good cockpit photos and history is The Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum IN THE COCKPIT, Photography by Eric F. Long and Mark A. Avino, Text by Dana Bell.
http://www.amazon.com/Cockpit-Inside-50 ... 991&sr=8-1
The difficult item to photograph in the cockpit is the control stick and wheel that in some aircraft obscures the view of the instrument panel, such as in the P-38. Maybe two photos will appear in future books. one with control pushed forward and the other with control pulled back.
A book with crew positions would be great, but I have not seen one yet, another opportunity, just difficult to find many aircraft today that have the crew positions intact.
Another source for photos of cockpits is the on-line source that is easy to access.

I have "Gunner". I bought it at the gift shop on my very first ever visit to Lone Star Flight Museum.
