Looking thru modern day eg since 1980s warbird crashes i notice MOST are trainers i think.. this shows that trainers are more dangeorus and bite harder than the props fighter and bombers.. Some trainers require alot of hands on work to remain flying etc

What do people think?

I think there is and has been a lot more by quantity trainers operating than higher level warbirds.
I think that as they are "entry level" warbirds they attract people with little or no prior experience, and they are more affordable in comparison so again they are obtainable by people new to the warbird area.
It is simply a matter of numbers, as statistics are mainly irrelevant in this case.
If 10,000 spitfires had still been extant and available from the 80`s on up, they would have the highest accident numbers.

It has nothing to do with "they bite harder" to be honest, its just that they were easier to acquire, to then get bitten by!

I would thought that trainers would more stable and forgiving of mistakes than fighters... :?

The Ryan PT-21-22 series was based upon the Ryan STA and STM series aircraft. WHen the original Menasco engines proved to be a little fragile for heavy flight instruction use the aircraft were redesigned with a Kinner radial. The other big change was the inclusion of a swept wing. It was found that the STMs with their staright wings were too docile for the primary traing role, the sweep addressed some of those shortcomings, (from a trainer aspect ) and helped train better pilots that were more prepared for their later mounts.

Ask anyone that has flown a T-6 and a P-51 which is easier to fly.
The reason there are more accidents with trainers is real simple, there are ALOT more of them.

Another thing to look at is that they are still being used as trainers. I would speculate that a lot of the crashes were low time pilots using the trainers to transition from light GA aircraft to warbirds. This would be especially true of the T6.
