Hi everyone,

as noted in the last Canadian Museum of Flight "Glidepath" newsletter there is a plan in place to construct a new hangar facility on the museum's current property at Langley Airport, BC.

This hangar will be large enough to house our entire aircraft collection indoors. This is a first, because our museum began as an entirely outdoors museum at Crescent Beach, then in 1994 became a half enclosed museum at Langley (which included a little hangar and large outdoor courtyard), but now the plan is to take down the old hangar and put up a new hangar facility that will cover the entire CMF property footprint.

Below art artists renderings of what the facility will look like. I am confident we can reach our funding goal of $2.5 million and move forward with this truly ambitious goal. If anyone has any questions or wants to contribute, please contact me via this thread or PM. Or contact the museum staff at 604-532-0035.

Has anyone ever been involved with a museum that has undertaken a similar project in the past?

Does anyone have any suggestions, pointers, or comments on how we might be able to achieve our goal?

Thanks!

That would be awesome to see you guys get everything undercover in a new facility! Have you talked to the guys in Nanton? They are putting the finishing touches onto a new expanded hangar.

Honestly I'm not sure if our executive staff have been in touch with them. I imagine that Nanton would be a really great resource to know what kind of hickups they had on their path, to try and avoid the same ones ourselves.

Every little bit of help goes a long way.

Thank you,

David

No problem Dave. The curators name is Bob Evans. They are great people down there and they have gone through one expansion a few years back and now have almost doubled the hangar area with this latest expansion.
