I will be in Orlando FL during the first week in April, and I was wondering if there is anything warbird related that is open to the public in the area? I'm taking the wife and kids to Disney and I'll have some time for myself on or about Thursday the 3rd before we drive down to Naples. We did FOF 2 years ago but my wife isn't keen on going there again and I'd like my warbird fix! :x

IIRC Flying Tigers folded up shop did it not? Any help appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Pete

This isn't a museum deal but WIXer 'Sagebrush' has his PT-23 at Eustis, which is just northwest of Orlando.

Warbird Adventures and their related activities are still there: http://www.kissimmeeairmuseum.com/

Not sure about Stallion 51 though... they are not "public" per se.

Here is a good start for the immediate Orlando area...

http://www.aerialvisuals.ca/Locator.php ... ndo#TheMap

Assuming you are interested in the area of Florida between Orlando and Naples (Who says your "randomly" chosen route won't just happen to bring you right past a road side warbird?) try this for a listing...

http://www.aerialvisuals.ca/Locator.php ... TheResults

...and for a visual try this...

http://www.aerialvisuals.ca/Locator.php ... 110#TheMap

There is a good chance I will be in Florida with a few days to spare in late June. I will be updating the Florida section of the Locator next. Look for additions and updates to the data available via the links above in the next week.

Do you want to find locations of displayed, stored or active aircraft? Then start with the The Locator.
Do you want to find or contribute to the documented history of an aircraft? If so then start with the Airframes Database.

You'd better stop by and say "Hi" and see the facitlities. There is plenty to see in Kissimmee.

1. Kermit Weeks' "Fantasy of Flight" is just off I-4 between Orlando and Lakeland.

2. Some stuff around Kissimmee.

3. Some WW1 stuff at Church Street Station in downtown Orlando.

4. Valiant Air Command Museum at TICO Airport in Melbourne

5. Glenn Wegman's place at Indiantown.

Hi Chuck,

I just checked out your website and I'll be stopping by for sure. And seeing how I turn 40 this year maybe I'll ask the wife if I can treat myself to a B-day present, and finally fly a warbird! I see that you also have a museum there too...neat.

I'll send you a PM as April gets closer.

It's not the Orlando area, however the Florida International Airshow will be held in Punta Gorda April 5 + 6. http://www.fl-airshow.com/
Usually a few warbirds there. Punta Gorda is about 20 miles north of Ft. Myers

Tim,

Yes the Punta Gorda show is on my list as it relatively close to where we stay in SW FL. I just read the FW190 D9 thread. Ryan wasn't sure but does anyone know if Tom Blairs facility at Sallion 51, or Stallion 51 themselves welcome visitors?

Thanks,
Pete

Stallion 51 was very nice to me on the several trips I made there.

There is nothing at Church Street station to see unless you like to see empty buildings and construction.

Oh really...I wanted to get to that in years past but considering how many Mustangs I saw at Columbus :) .....

It looks like it will be thursday April 3rd I'll have some time and I'll stop by Warbird Adventures. I'll check out Stallion 51 if I go in and get a good welcome vibe.
