Except for it was captured by the Chinese and was a mess. Restored by Herman the German and some helpers then flown by aces Ajax Baulmer, Grant Mahony and Bruce Holloway.
I've got some pretty good shots of it 8)

War Drive Zero #3372

Wed Feb 06, 2008 2:00 am

Rereading the link Jack provided, a question popped in my head that hadn't before. After the
"pebble in the strut" crashlanding, how did Neuman locate/or assemble another prop so quickly?
Probably a neat story in its own right.

As for where #3372 went?.... I've heard an old bench story over the years, that the USAFM realised in the
60's or early 70's the AF had "loaned" a 'war drive Zero' to a VFW or somesuch organization in
New Mexico. USAFM asked the them where it was and they replied, it had become an eyesore
and they had disposedof/scrapped it. I've figured that may have been 3372.

A good bench story for Mustangdriver to check out with the Wright Patt oldtimers???

I would say, yes, that it is the same plane in the "camo" picture. I even think that the man with his head down is Chenault himself.

I am going to have to check it out.

On the far left is Merian C Cooper, on Chennault's staff...also famous for being the director of the 1933 film KING KONG!
