There's an eastern european resin kit out there somewhere, but it's kind of spendy for this project.
My suggestion for the BT-13s are to try to find a couple old Hawk/Testors T-6s and round off the wing tips, recountour the tail feathers to the approximate shape and call it good.
We're not trying for an IPMS George Lee award here.
I can't help you on the Vac kits, I hate the frappin' things.

Now that my sick cat has gone on to his reward I'm going to try to get back into building again. (But it ain't gonna be easy, I really miss that boy)

Thanks all, Biggles was 3 days past his 13th birthday, really only mid-middle age for a cat, he was the second one we lost in less than 2 years.
He is sorely missed and will be for quite a while.

Mr. Widgeon,
Sorry to hear about your loss. We all know that losing a pet is losing a member of the family. Hang in there.

Gary,

My C-45 should be "landing" there in Midland any day now via US Mule. I sent it yesterday.

Cheers!

hello all

here is my entry for consideration in the "Worst Looking Wing Fold" category; while functional, it is but-ugly, and reminds me of something you'd make from a 1920's wood and pattern kit...

As well, some "in progress" shots submitted by one of the anonymous builders in this project; I really dig the old Lindberg Navion! And that Fw44 scares the crap out of me...

Is it just me, or does the Navion look a little on the big side?...possibly it is "box scale", or maybe 1/48? Any ideas?

cheers

Greg...What do you think of my idea of substituting 2 T-6s for the, evidently, non-existent BT-13s. They're identical dimensions.

Greg, the Navion is 1/48th scale and a pretty rare old kit valued at 30-40 bucks in my Burns Kit Colloectors Guide.
I would recommend you tell the builder to stop (if it isn't too late already).
Wrong scale.

Mr. Widgeon, thanks, I have alerted the builder. Too bad, its a real cool looking kit!

Mudge, that works for me, as long as its cool with Gary. It makes sense as well, seeing as we already have 4 T-6's in the works, which I think would alleviate the need for any more BT-13's or T-6's....

Spooky and others who have already shipped their models, how did you guys package them? I am on the verge of sending some and wouldn't mind some advice. I'm thinking individually bagged with peanuts, then loose in a box with more peanuts. What do you guys recommend?

cheers!

I've got that same Navion kit. I started cutting out the windows on it a while back but never really decided how to replace them.

That Swordfish wingfold is cool. I dig it!

As for shipping, with all the reinforcements to the landing gear I left the props off where i could and put them in a little box and rubber banded them to the wing of the plane. Other than that i just used alot of styro peanuts and made sure there was alot of room around the edges. You can just kinda wiggle the gear in between peanuts and it seems pretty secure.

Well, the Free Mexican Air Force is coming right along!

I just need to get me some of those fancy wing folders and the Corsair will be done! The last pair where too small!

Mudge, go for it! That plan sounds fine to me.

Again, y'all are awesome! This has been fun to watch everyone's progress. Thanks a ton!!!
