I know the project and the detail is going to be stunning!

Well, I'm not sworn to secrecy, but I honor requests for privacy.
I didn't even take any pictures when I saw this bird in person last fall.
I was afraid I'd want to post them!
I can't wait to see it finished!

The Warbird community still continues to baffle me with all it's cloak and dagger secrecy. :(

It's not so much "cloak and dagger" as it respect for the owners privacy in not wanting information or pictures of a restortation to "get out" in general circulation with out their permission.

Look at it this way, if you have spent several years and tons of cash on what should be an award winning aircraft, would you want someone else ruining your "unveiling" with info and images posted for all to see?

Some don't care and look for the pre-roll-out publicity, others are more reserved.

As an individuual with a few inside connections at museum's and restoration shops, I would never take photos with out permission and NEVER publish or post them with out permission.
If I ran around getting in everywhere and taking pictures and posting info and future plans with out anybody's consent, access to many of these shops could be jeopardized.

Since I consider many of them to be friends, I'm not willing to just blather away on all the "inside" stuff I know. I respect people's requests and unless they say they don't care, I'm not going to publish anything.

Now if I was a full time journalist and I was visiting a project for coverage, they would know why I'm there and what was possibly going to happen.

It's too easy to piss somebody off. If that happens doors slam shut.

With this particular project at Mid West Aero, I was given a pretty in depth look at the details. I sensed that they were proud of them. They never asked me not to take any photos, but I refrained from taking them because it just didn't feel right. I was very honored that I was shown those details and trusted with them. I rather have the friendship than the "glory" of showing the world what's about to come out of the hanger.

A little long, but that's the way I look at things.
Blue skies,
Jerry
