Anyone have any info on the following Duster outfits????


Medlock Dusters, Woodland CA
Moody Dusting Co. Coolidge AZ
Chico Aerial Applicators, Chico CA

These companys were large operators of N3N's.

Here are the Falcon N3Ns, the only one I did not get a pic of was the complete one in the CAF hangar. and yes, it is raining here today and I did not get out of the car, they are drive-by pics.

I was gonna run by there this afternoon and do the same, but you beat me to the punch. The N3N that was inside the CAF buildings was moved on field - our little contribution to the upcoming football game. Super Bowl, I believe they call it. Maybe you have heard about it?

The CAF buildings have been emptied for the upcoming NFL owners party this coming Friday, and as a result the airport authority is in a high state of hysterics to get vintage airplanes moved out of doors and into the rain so the work crews can ready the tents and the trailers for this special event. Our little airport now sports a carnival-like atmosphere.

Apparantly the sight of old prop planes (and the vintage suck and blows, too) aren't something our deep thinking city officials are proud of when they showcase the airport this week. The folks who own the N3Ns you photographed recently got some stinging letters from airport authority to move 'em, put 'em indoors or pretty 'em up, I was told. Too bad.

We've all been in high gear moving some of the old elephants off the field or at least out of eyesight from the party crowd. Last to move off field the other night was a T-33 on two trailers. God forbid - they might seen an old airplane - on an airport, no less - and this just wouldn't be a good reflection upon City of Mesa.

All part of the big dog and pony show and city politics, I guess. I'd offered to host my own NFL party (NFL being "Non-Flying Lockheed") to showcase the Harpoon in the spam can hangar to city staff as they aren't invited to the bigwigs shindig even after all of their efforts. Apparantly my offer of a few beers in the shadows of old '57C just doesn't cut it like having catered chow and cocktails with the movers and shakers in the sports world. :lol:

Traffic into and out of FFZ this coming weekend is supposed to be grim at best, so for any of you planning a trip to the area, well, expect some delays and issues.

I hope that they take care of them. Such horrid storage conditions. I cannot believe that they would store such a fine airplane next to that yukky stearman!

Get ready, Pooner. When the Super Bowl came to Houston, Ellington and Houston Hobby were packed with private jets. Hobby closed down two runways and the aircraft were parked wingtip to wingtip the length of the runways. Ellington with its huge military type ramp was packed full. They sure sold a lot of fuel though.

I remember when the superbowl came to Houston. They called a special meeting at LBX (south of Houston) and told all of the tenants to stay home because they would be overrun with private jet traffic and only real pilots would be able to fly that weekend. There was one corporate jet on the ramp for the weekend...not even sure it was associated with the game.

I would recommend that you air out the hangar for the day, set up the lawn chair out front, and have a party of your own! :lol:

I can add a little more on the subject:

N1310N in the photos is actually a PT-13D
Another N3N owned by Blue Sky is 2748/N90128.

As far as I know, there are 4 N3N hulks sitting outside. Only two have been positively identified:

2576/N44831 - owned by Blue Sky, as N3N Jeff mentioned.
4455/N44964 - "sale reported" on USCAR.

I would be very interested in hearing of any more confirmed identities for these birds.
