Never seen the little round flange over the 1st exhaust stack on the P-40; guess that is to cool it. The P-51 also looks like it has the add on dorsal fin.

Also note the ducting added inside of the windscreen to heat the cockpit...

That scan was made from a print in my collection, by the way.

You cant see them but there are also shutters on the oil and glycol coolers inside the chin cowl to keep them from freezing.Man that must of been some kind of duty in the frozen war.
