Warbird Information Exchange

One of my other passions is boneyards. I remember when I was a small kid back in the mid 60's and we lived inside a military base. On the outskirts there was a piled up boneyard and we usually went there to play. But adults always discouraged us saying there were snakes and nasty spiders all around. Never found one, but got an awful cut while jumping from one scrap to another.

Although I do a search in WIX, I don’t know if you folks posted this before. The author made some good colored light work with his camera.

where is this boneyard located? I have seen the pictures of the what I at first thought were PV-1/ Howard 250..on Wix.....But with seeing the rest of the photos, I can see that this is a PV-2...even more interesting is that it appears to be a rare super Harpoon conversion...Any help in locating this would be appreciated, as I should be in the area next week..thx Gary

saw those pics in 1 of the major av mags, those pics with the color enhancement is a real unique twist to aviation art, almost like andy warhol's art perspective.

That yard belongs too Mark Thomson. He does let some people walk through, if he is around. It is best to call or email before you go out there. I'm going up there on the 23rd to drop off a couple thing to him. I will take some pics and post them.

I could spend a week in a place like that. I used to play in the boneyard on the Navy Base in Puerto Rico, and I think that has a big part to do with my obsession with airplanes.

I've been in the neighborhood many times, but never realised that this place existed...I have talked to Mark before about PV manuals, and he had invited me out there to take a peek at his Howard...Thought I had found it on sat. image, to the north aways....on the west side of 395...looks to be a Howard or PV at this airfield....thanks for the info
