<"There are very few around, but if you have realistic chance to fly one or a B-25, B-29 etc. then a nosewheel trainer might be the thing to get time in. I think the 28 may have been designed as a step to those moving up to jets.">

Bill, That's what they told us in USAF T-28A Aviation Cadet Ground School in 1953. It was designed as a prelude to the T-33. They told us a delay in throttle response when increasing it was normal because thats the way the T-Bird engine reacted. As far as the T-28 helping learn how to taxi a B-25, there is no similarity between the two. With multi engines you use throttles and brakes to steer. Our 28's had the nosewheel steering de-activated so we used (up) lots of brakes to taxi it.

As multi-engine cadets, we got 40 hours or so in the -28, mostly dual instrument training before the B-25. Aerobatics and solo spins were prohibited although the Cadets who were in the single engine training program weren't so restricted. They also got more total time, more solo and formation time in the T-28 than we many-motored mutha's did!

Jack

Does an a/c exist that can prepared you for taxing the B-25
When Sam Richardson (who has tons of time in everything) taxied our B-25 for the first time
it was like the ride from h*ll   :? :!:

Both T-6 and T-28 have large active owner and type groups that support the planes with info, formation training clinics, forums at EAA, NWOC etc. One poster wrote the T-6 guys are more friendly. Is that true? Anyone who is really interested in one of these planes over the other might want to try visiting the two groups and see which fits best for them. Or best of all, get one of each.
