Greetings
I was wondering if anybody has a update on the DFW Wing of the CAF R4D? I had read back a few months on this page that she was due for a New paint job. She was a pretty Bird back in the late Eightys when I last laid eyes on her in person .

Well, I don't know if I'd use the word "due". A new coat of paint is the next item on the major "to do" list, but it's a very expensive proposition, especially considering that just over 12 months ago we put 2 new engines on the airplane. I don't know that an organized fundraising drive has been started yet for the paint, but we're always interested in any donations that would help us towards keeping her flying and/or repainting her.

As for current status, we were supposed to take her to the DFW Transportation Expo back the second weekend of December, but weather prevented it. As such, she was moved into the DFW Wing hangar shortly thereafter and now has the cowlings off, inspection panels open, and is undergoing her winter maintenance & annual inspection. I think we already have 2 or 3 airshows committed for sure for this year including an April show, so she'll be back in the air before long. :)

I'll be at the hangar on Wednesday, I'll post some pics of the current goings-on.

"Ready 4 Duty" is great plane. I had the pleasure of touring her in La Porte, IN during a tour stop in 2004. She was doing a small tour of select cities while coming back from Thunder.

The crew was very helpful as well.
