Hello all-

I have been working on identifying all of the surviving Spartan Aircraft Company airframes, including the C-2, C-3, 7W (Executive), Model 12 and NP-1. I have been able to ID all of the surviving Executives, the Model 12 and the only complete NP-1. There are two C-2s that I can't seem to find any information on, as well as one C-3. The C-3 is listed with the FAA as being owned by a Laverne D. Warthan of Delwein, Iowa with registration N271K. The first C-2 is a C-2-45, owned by Anthony Morozowsky of Zanesville, Ohio with the registration N992N. The second C-2 is a C-2-60 with the Golden Wings Museum in Blaine, Minnesota, with registration N11904. No big hurry, but if anyone has info or pictures I'd sure love to see them!

Thanks so much,

kevin

The Golden Wings C-2 was being restored at Blakesburg, IA, and I'm pretty sure still is, you might e-mail the Antique Airplane Association there for more info.

Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome has a Spartan C-3 that is on display. N285M is the reg. #. It use to fly in the shows and it was always one of my favorites.

Just realized I had one of the older Spartans that I photographed at Oshkosh in the 90's.

NC705N is a 1929 Spartan C-3-165 serial number 149.
I photographed it in 1992 at Osh with a Speedring on the engine, and seen here in 1998 at Osh, without the speedring.

'705N belongs to Ed Wegner of Plymouth, WI, great guy. I think he's owned if for more than 30 years.

Thanks, guys! Keep the info coming! Does anyone know when the C-3 at Old Rhinebeck last flew? I heard it was at least 20 years ago.

My dad used to fly the ORA Spartan, I'll bet it was the late 1970s when it last flew.
