I stopped by Hollister Airport yesterday afternoon. I enjoy snooping around here because there always seems to be somthing interesting on the ramp. Unfortunatly now there are big fences that make it a little more dificult to just walk around, but I did ok.

Here are a few real thoroughbred's right off the bat. Straw Boss 2, and the de Havilland Comet (replica).

I think I've seen this one for sale recently.

Rough Fouga, This one has been here as long as I can remember.

Mi-2's the blue one has a price of $60,000 in the window. I've also got some cool shots of these in original military paint somewhere.

Vinatage Wings and Wheels LCC, was the only warbird shop open when I stopped by, but they usually have some cool projects.

Some of you might remember a New Standard biplane that is well known in this area, called the Flying Lady. Well this fuselage frame is her sitting along side a T-6 fuselage at Vintage Wings and Wheels. The wings are being rebuilt in Chino.

BT-13 on the ramp, awaiting the attention of Vinatage Wings and Wheels.

That looks like a successful visit. Well done.

This may sound strange, but do the P-51 and the Comet sit on the ramp all the time? Don't they have a hangar somewhere?

The P-51 only comes out when it is flown the same day (note tow bar). The Comet is normally hangared, but has been out for a few days. I flew in for fuel on the 28th about 3pm. The Comet was out, the P-51 was in the hangar.

I spoke to the owner of the Iskra, and it is for sale. He is being forced out of his hangar..............

Thanks for posting the picture of the Comet. I was driving to my sister's house in Hollister on Dec 24th about noon and saw this red aircraft in a high banked turn onto what could have been a base leg and wondered what it was. It sure looked bitch*n.

I didn't think the Iskra even had a hangar. Every time I'm there it's sittig outside. Unless there was a matching one in that spot before?

I was supposed to get a ride in the Commet at one time but unfortunaty I never got to collect. I helped pull the engines for overhaul whn it was at the Wings of History Museum years ago. The last time I was out there in Hollister it was living in Jerry Gabe's hangar on the feild.

Personally I've been drawn to the Mi-2's since they have been there. Any ideas why they haven't sold?

I was interested to find out that Mi-2's are used by U.S. forces in the war right now. I never knew that.

Someone remind me in a few days when I get back to Olympia to dig out the pictures of these two still wearing their red stars. When I first saw them I thought they were destined to become restored warbirds
