a warm & fuzzy 1960's xmas memory from norad.......... remember??? if your over 40 you'll relate to this xmas memory if you were a baby boomer of that era & you watched the tv news either under duress from your parents, or willingly. the news media always had a story on the tv news that norad / sac at cheyenne mountain colorado was tracking santa coming into the u.s. & in your neighborhood on xmas eve, with weather conditions, etc, to drop off your xmas loot. ahhh.... those were the days. :santa: now they concentrate on floating space junk & missiles from rogue nations. i always thought it was a fun thing from the govt. as a kid , but now kind of macabre humor by todays standards. any way, they meant well in the fun gesture.

my family has always had a warped sense of humor. In Puerto Rico in the early 70s, it was the tradition for Seal Team Two to have a beach party to celebrade Christmas. The beach party was always followed by a huge outdoor bar fight. :D

I recall seeing my dad picking up his fellow sailors and dumping them into trashcans full of ice/ water/ beer.

back to the story...the base TV station, the only one we got in English, would broadcast the Santa updates as well. Dad decided to be clever and go outside during the broadcast and empty his .45 into the air. He walked in and proudly declared "no more f'ing Santa Claus"

Mom didn't think it was real funny.

:D
