There's a big world out there, with lots of different warbirds to discover.

(And I've heard all the 'reasons' and 'excuses' for not travelling... If you care enough, you can make it happen. Getting on an airliner to another country's airshow is easy, compared to the effort expended in getting the warbird back into the sky.)

Heck yeah ma, I am all about going to Duxford.

P-40C 41-13390 restored by Fighter Rebuilders for The Fighter Collection about ten years ago. It's now with Paul Allen's group in Washington State.

Cheers,
Richard

Duh, how could I forget about the one flying P-40 that looks right in AVG markings. I'd love to see it fly too.

When was the last time it flew? Oh wait, MS no longer is providing support for the C model so we'll have to upgrade to the P-40E models for Gennie. But we better hurry up because once the K model shows up....can we get the Beta for the N model?

Have the dates for the 2008 show been set yet? I would like to know as I am editing video from the 2007 show and I would like to include a frame with the 2008 show dates.

Do you want to find locations of displayed, stored or active aircraft? Then start with the The Locator.
Do you want to find or contribute to the documented history of an aircraft? If so then start with the Airframes Database.

I think they're going for July 11-13, 2008.

It flew twice this year, last time on Sept. 11.

Ah, yes, but you, my friend, have been known to collect serial numbers where no man has collected serial numbers before. :prayer:

Superb. Did they have the 'gear down and locked' patch or the 'making the guns work' upgrade downloaded yet? :D

Book your ticket for early July 2008 and you won't be disappointed.

Whats wrong in trying to get every flying P-40 to attend a Kittyfeed? How many kitties could attend such a feedlot? There heaps in Europe/NZ/Australia right that could be freighted in?

You must tell us more about "planet reality" one of these days.

Absolute nonsense James. You know that all US-built aeroplanes should be repatriated to their country of origin. Personally, I wouldn't travel more than an hour in any direction to see an old aeroplane.

And to anyone who disagrees with me, I say :P !!!

And just like all the British a/c should be in the UK. Be a good way of seeing the CWH fit bomb racks to their Lanc, trying to 'repatriate' it to the UK.

It's an easy target, but more seriously, as Mike and I both have discovered, going to different countries to watch shows is always interesting and surprising, much more so than staying 'home'. Having seen shows in the US, Canada, New Zealand Australia, France and the UK, and counting, each has a lot to offer not available anywhere else; and that's even without considering the types on show. Globally we are in a late 'golden age' of great shows - I don't think they'll be the same in five, ten years time, so get travelling now.
