P: Noise coming from under instrument panel. Sounds like a midget pounding on something with a hammer.

S: Took hammer away from midget.

N151TS-- Not sure I really understand what you mean, perhaps you could elaborate? Two words do not really contribute to a discussion.

Quite an interesting collection you toured! I wonder if there is any work ongoing on the outdoor aircraft as some of them look unloved?

some rare stuff!! also great foresight on the part of the polish government to provide the complete family tree on the mig 21 variants, however, they need to put them indoors.

Peter, there currently is not anything happening to the MiGs or otherwise. I think the Li-2, Yak 28s and IL-14 are more of the concern. Unfortunately I don't have pictures of them. They still have a bunch more MiGs they have to ready for display. An interesting note, most of the MiGs are still flyable. Some of the MiG 23s and SU-17/22s were brought straight from the flight-lines of their bases, and only need gas and a pilot although I doubt anyone would want to fly them without a detailed inspection.

Hi All, here are some more pictures from the Polish Aviation Museum

Mike, I was just going off of what they told me at the museum. Again, it is possible I misunderstood. The sign in front of the Hawk says that it was imported by Goering but that all the flying on it was done by Udet.

Technically speaking, and some nuance may be lost in translation, the
Poles and Mike are getting at the same point. Udet, the second highest
scoring German ace of WW1, was a bit of good propaganda for the Nazi's.
Udet wanted the Hawk II's, but had to have Goering's OK for the appropriation
of the government funds to purchase them.

WC, I believe he is sarcasticly lamenting these birds being caged and not
flying. Too bad the outside birds can't get at least T-hangars over them
to get them out of the weather. It'd also be nice if someone could get
the local boy scouts or public service parolees to give the outsiders a
good scrubbing and polish. :?

thanks for the great pics!!! :D

Re: missing wings on WW1 types =- IIRC these airframes were actually moved from Germany to Poland for protection from bombing during WW2 and Poland 'inherited' them after the war - the wings I believe were stored elsewhere and were destroyed -hence the fuselage only display.

PeterA - where did their Spit come from - vague recollection of a swap with the UK - what did we get in return? If anyone will know...

MUST get to that museum IRL!
