If you go to this webpage...

http://home.wanadoo.nl/marcel32/monino3/index.html

...you will find a thumbnail for a picture of the Monino B-25. Just below it the following information is given...

North American B-25D
32850
c/n 100-23681

Does anyone know if this might be an accurate ID? According to Joe Baugher's lists 100-23681 is 43-3355. What is interesting is that many of this production block appears to have been assigned to foreign sales. However this example is very close in serial number to the USAF Museum F-10 (and others).

At least this webpage points to an ID. The question still remains as to how this one came to be in Russia.

Comments anyone?

Mike

Hey Rob, I'd be interested in getting copies of any of those pictures from Monino, I'm looking to add all those to the Russian registry.

BTW, anybody have a list of aircraft on display there?

There are a few unofficial websites with good information. Is is what I found in the past and have bookmarked...

http://home.wanadoo.nl/marcel32/monino1/

http://www.geocities.co.jp/SilkRoad-Oce ... onino.html

http://home.wanadoo.nl/~mdej/aviation_uk/au.html

I sent the museum a message regarding that 61, and asked for a photo of the dataplate. I imagine that my message is being passed around to see if it will compromise Chinese National Security or something

There are current detailed pictures of the Bejing P-61 including the data plate here on WIX.

Cool pictures of the B-25 in the snow. I never realized they were ever fitted with a bottom turret. Looks pretty Skookum!

Cheers,

David

I don't know if that's an original Bendix belly turret or not. That airplane (and the Monino A-20) appear to have a lot of parts that were scratchbuilt without the aid of blueprints. The nose contours on the B-25 are way off, and the canopy and upper turret also appear mis-shapen. The prop blades are either fakes, or Russian-built units very different from the original Ham Standards.

Still, kudos to the folks who have seen fit to preserve the aircraft.

A couple of shots I took in May 2002. It has perhaps had a repaint since then.

Speaking of details on this Mitchell, along with the appearance of the Plexiglass nose, check out the nose wheel from the port side.

You're right, I totally didn't notice how totally mis-shapened the nose was. Crazy. I wonder how all these mods came to be.

I do know that the A-20 had a special turret mod, but I never knew of the B-25 mods in Russia.

Cheers,

David
