Hi,
Back in 1979 I located several Lysander remains just north of Poplar Point, Manitoba. Post war in 1946, a farmer purchased 24 Lysanders, 15 Bolingbrokes, three Fairey Battles and one Fleet Fort. He scrapped them all but the remains of the Lysanders were scattered around one area of the farm--mainly wheel spatts, Lysander pilot seat's and bits and pieces of the fuselage.
The neighbor north of the farm had the remains of two Lysander fuselages he was using as a gate to keep his cows in a corral. And another neighbor to the west had the cockpit section of a Lysander. The local Winnipeg aviation museum had no interst in any military aircraft. So I notified a fellow in Vancouver, BC, Ed Zalesky. Travelling across western Canada he purchased the cockpit section, complete with control column/spade grip and rudder pedals that had Westland embossed, and loaded the remains on a trailer and headed out to Vancouver. The Lysander control column appears identical to that used in the Hawker Hurricane.
Contact me and I'll try to obtain his e-mail address so you may inquire if he still has the Lizzie remains.
