F2G help required

Hi

I'm trying to find as much information as i can on the F2G super corsair so i can build a large scale model. Drawings with sections would be a great help but any general info would be a bonus. I've collected as much as i can from google.

If any of you can help or point me in the right direction that would be great.

Look thru ArmyJunk's sticky. there are a lot fo pics of F2G's in there. IIRC

For the superdetailer in your life...... The interior paint was left "stock" in the racers.

There is a drawing, with sections in the April 1958 "Model AirPlane News", "planes worth Modeling" section. I would post it but it's copywrited. E-mail me if you don't have it.

Ooooh, this is some AWESOME info... thank you SO much for posting the manual scans with the finish specs!!! And since we're on the topic, was it SOP for Cook Cleland to retract the flaps on his F2Gs after a race? I've got the new Special Hobby kit of "race 57" in the pile, and have been toying with the idea of swapping the wing out from another Corsair kit to have dropped flaps. If he usually retracted them, however, I won't bother.

Cook's racers, except #57 had the flaps fixed in the up position. The hindges were removed to eliminate drag.

#57 was "sold" to McKillian for the race and did not have the same modifications. It was raced as basically stock. It came with the carburator extension that was borrowed from the Navy by Cook in 1947.
