Must have been scarey to try and fly in one of those!

How hard would it be to try and create a new build flyable version of one of these? Isnt it just steel tubing and fabric? And some of them were made in good ole' CT! :P 8)

Back then maybe it was a good idea?

They could carried jeeps, guns, armer, tractors, ect. Not bad if you want a fast mobile force to be deployed behind enemy lines. No other way to do it back in WWII. So I'd say it was a moderately good idea. No reason to avoid it and join the Navy. If anything those men in the gliders are heroes.

No offense Jack. I'd rather fly in those gliders then ride on a ship. :vom:

There are a few restored and there had been talk of flying at least one...

Yanks in Chino has one under restoration as well. It will be "flyable" I'm sure, but will likely not be flown.

Yea, whats the situation with that? Didn't the person who actually did it have to pay for any of it?
