But: where is the B-24 nose wheel, where is the B-17 tailwheel? Is this an early form of filmshopping? Does anyone know the full story?

I think this may be legit. I seem to remember reading and seeing a picture of this once before. I think the idea was to add more armor/ armament to a B-24 so they swapped a B-17G front end on.

My guess is that the person happened to be standing infront of the tail wheel.

Looks like some of the problems this hybrid was intended to resolve were addressed by Consolidated in the B-32.
