Lts Don Wilson & Gene Youngs of VMF-122 wait in their idling Corsair while morning colors are in process on Pelilu. When the returned from thier patrol they learned it was their last mission has the war was over 8)

What a beautiful picture, from every standpoint. One of the best
compositions of a/c & people on an active WWII base I have ever seen.
Any idea who the photographer was?

No idea on the photog. I like it especially since Don Wilson is a friend
and I was able to chat with Gene Youngs before he passed way.

You post an awful lot of stuff, Jack, and I try to save all of it, but this is by far one of the best ones you've come up with. Do you have a larger resolution version of this photo?

Absolutely breathtaking composition, and the historical significance cannot be missed either.
