Spitfire chased by V-1

At the Aviodrome, Holland, 2002.

This Spitfire is now under rebuild to fly in the UK with Historic Flying.

The V-1 was also rebuilt to fly, and the test flight was fully successful. It's now based in Kent, Surrey, Sussex and London.

The next rebuild will be underway once the team have got all their bits back.

Yea the Aviodrome gave that part of history away almost for free...

Please explain this statement and provide more details. Do you mean it was successful because it didn't crash and explode or what?

I can't say much for that nasty little thing hanging in the air, but it is a good picture of a mid war Spit guns. You can see the fabric patches over the .303 cal Brownings, the long barrel Hispano 20 mm. cannons, and the faired over mounting stub, in which they could field mount either a .50 cal machine gun as in the P-51, or another cannon as in the post war Spits. In either case they would delete the .303 s. I know the 4 cannon ship was effective and I suspect the 2 cannon and 2 .50 cal was also good. You can also get a good look at the fluted exhaust stacks common to the MK IX. I have not seen one with a yellow spinner before.
