Need name of movie or TV show with B-25

I was having one of those nights were I could not get some Zzzz so I was channel surfing and got in the middle of a old black and white movie that had a crashed B-25 it was found by a servey crew in the desert of Africa I belive it was named The Grand Slam or Home Run .
Any way the story from best of what I can figure is that all the crew died in the crash all but one who later became a General. The Ghost make a all out effort to show that the now General lied about when and where he bailed out . I kinda got the sence that this movie was based on the B-24 Lady Be Good story . Was this a twilight zone show ?

Right oh right oh The subject B-25 last seen at Scholls place in Chino, I took a pic of it back in the last century around 1987 or 88.

Sole Survivor was in color...there was a Twilight Zone episode, I think i was called King 9 Will Not Return, or something to that effect, about a B-25 that crashed in the desert.

I concur that it sounds like the King 9 Twilight zone episode.

The B-25 I believe is B-25C 42-32354 which I remember seeing at the Pima Air Museum a long time ago. Then as Gary 1954 said, Carl Scholl traded Pima for it and she now resides in his back yard in Borrego Springs. She would make an awesome project as she has most all of her original equipment still in place. I think she may be the only C model left but I would have to check with Scott Thompson on that one.

The last time I saw "King Nine" in the dessert. I think the only other really viable restoration to airworthy frame at this time is B-25C 41-13251 and in Lancaster, CA. The lake salvaged B-25Cs are probably destined to be static or "as found" displays. There have been some whispers about "King Nine" in the past year or so. If I hear more i will keep you posted.

If money wasn’t such an issue, I thought of another "potentially" possible but not plausible museum.

The B-25 Mitchell Museum

B-25B- "Happy Halloween" -Restored as a Doolittle Raider
B-25C- "King 9" -Restored in Authentic Desert Scheme- One side of nose still has "KING 9" on it.
B-25H- "Barbie III" -Acquired through transaction.
B-25J- "Wolf Head" -Restored J Gun Model Nose.

B-25J- "Camera 1" -Restored J model. Highly customized. Fiberglass bubble sections installed for multiple camera positions. Plexiglas Bombay doors with camera fitted downwards.


It would probably be the most dynamic museum out there. Well at least in my eyes.

I think Craig59 had it right -- this must have been "Sole Survivor" and not the "Twilight Zone" episode ("King Nine Will Not Return"). I say that because while both told very similar stories based on the discovery of "Lady Be Good" featuring a guilt-ridden survivor confronting the wreck of his lost B-25 -- the plot element of the ghosts actively pushing the general (their former navigator) to admit he panicked and bailed out early is unique to "Soul Survivor" (whereas the pilot in the "Twilight Zone" episode was supposed to have missed the mission all together because he was sick/scared).

I believe that in the episode on the "Twilight Zone" I think that was with Richard Basehart (not sure about the spelling) he was the only one wondering around the B-25 wanting to play a game of Baseball with his crew, believeing they would be rescued. then, the members of the crew started to vanish...their remains being recovered by the Air Force. Basehart was the only one left, as his remains were, I believe, actually under the broken aircraft. Great show..and I could dig a Mitchell Museum

I screwed up...

Carl Scholl did not get the C model from Pima. It came from the Hardwick purchase.

He got the B model fuselage from Pima.

I would like to see more information on what all was at Hardwick's place as I hear that there were a lot of rare birds there. Wasn't his name Jack Hardwick? Anyone have any photos of his place?

Thanks Phil, I got a message from Dik Shepherd who was there during the shooting, and he enlightened me as to the correct movie, I have found as I age, that some times, I can forget some of the details, and then some are there, but not all of them, and for that I apologize.

I can sure picture the Warbird Digest header...over a beautiful B&W air-to-air of the Mitchell, "KING NINE RETURNS"!
