Great museum, nice folks, nice art gallery, and meticulously maintained aircraft. I can't say enough about that........really well kept airplanes.

I agree with Gary. CFM's facility is first-rate, and they maintain their impressive fleet of aircraft in tip-top condition. You could eat off their hangar floors, the place is so clean! If you haven't been, you should go.

Great musuem, beautiful airplanes, well worth the trip. My only caution is to watch out for the guy (Doug) who manages the whole shebang....especially if you are, or are with, a lovely young lady. "She" will get an excellent tour, and an offer of photographs being taken with the airplanes, while you will get nothing.

Highly recommended. Hangars full of airplanes without diorama type settings. Since these are aircraft hangars they are not painted black inside so the light is usually OK. Sometimes can be a bit crowded but good access for detail shots. An interesting variety of aircraft as well. You can shave in the reflection off of the paint on most of their aircraft.

I second that observation. You should've seen him at Lancaster this year...

In my opinion, there are few, if any, better warbird museums out there... you won't regret the trip.

This is a new feature of the Locator where people can choose to read comments about the museum when they find it listed in the Locator. This feature takes no participation on my behalf (unlike adding your tips to the Locator database). Feel free to comment on the museum, the aircraft, finding the place, museum hours, etc.

In case you are wondering how to make log entries for other sites in the Locator just click the megaphone icon for the location of interest in a Locator listing.

Do you want to find locations of displayed, stored or active aircraft? Then start with the The Locator.
Do you want to find or contribute to the documented history of an aircraft? If so then start with the Airframes Database.

The only bad thing about the museum...is getting there - through the DFW urban sprawl.
Gosh that traffic is brutal!

The collection is worth the effort.

As everyone here has already stated, it is a fabulous collection that is beautifully maintained. An absolute "must see" if you are in the area.

As Brandon mentioned, it can be a bit crowded for photography, but with all of that eye candy, you can't fault them one bit.

Well, I've been going there almost every day for the last 9+ years...so anything I write might be a bit biased.

I guess I'll just say that I agree with the previous, very complimentary, comments.

Julian, I think the only thing anyone would hold against you for commenting is that you are one lucky SOB like Doug and Taylor who get to see them a lot more than the rest of us.

That's kinda what I figured.

In the interests of full disclosure, I was there on Monday. Flew in and had 4 hours or so before I could go work for my client, so I googled it up and off I went.

I went...I paid...I wandered...I shot a few images...and I left. Just kinda didn't grab me, and I don't know why.

Pretty decent light to shoot by, place was quite clean, and I can't put my finger on any one thing that really bugged me. A few miniscule things like the Triplane being placed so you can't see the front end, (but I shot it anyway), or the seriously tight packing job in the hanger (3 maybe) with the CASA/He-111 and Bf109 which made the 111 really tough to shoot, but nothing serious at all. No major 'Oooohhhh, I just can't believe.....' thing at all.

And to be clear, I understand that you've got to be able to fit everything inside, and they've got a bunch of cool aircraft, so clearly you want to be able to fit them all inside, so of course things are going to be packed in.

I also wished that the walk-around space in the maintenance hanger wouldn't have been quit so small, but again, I understand that you certainly don't want a bunch of ham-handed tourist types (such as myself) getting too close to aircraft you're trying to maintain), so it makes complete sense to me.

The simple truth, and the reason for this thread is that, knowing that I was running on remarkably little sleep and have some IRL stuff going on, that I felt like there was a strong chance that the issue was my own rather than CFM's, so that's why I asked you folks.

It seems that I may have bad case of this...
