I see there was a Hunter showing as imported to Canada Nov 11/07. It’s registered as C-FRHU to Lortie Aviation which I’m told is owned by Andre Lortie who is part of the Northern Lights Team. The aircraft is a Hawker Hunter MK58, s/n: 41H697440.

C-GZKY, C-GZKP, C-GJMQ, C-GJMP, C-GIVX, C-GIVT are all gone and the only Hunters shown registered to Northern Lights is C-GZIB (s/n: 41H697464) and C-GZIC (s/n: 41H697427). I guess losing that contract to Top Aces hurt business.

Brian--

Wonder which Swiss F.58 that c/n ties-in to? Be interesting if, instead of a literally recent import, it proved to be the ex-CWH F.58 returning to her element...I'd love to see that...J-4006 was arguably rather irrelevant at CWH, yes, but she was one cool machine, and in beautiful condition.

I think I recall seeing pix online a few months ago showing C-GZIC at an airport in the UK en route to France; not sure whether that was short- or long-term. Either way, I was glad to have spotted ZIC and two disassembled Hunters at Lesage Airport in Quebec City not long before. A Hunter is one of the significant types I have never seen in the air...looking forward to seeing one fly someday, maybe M. Lortie's!

J-4006 will likely not fly again, unless drastic acton was taken. Last pictures I saw of it it was only a fuselage and it was sitting outside, being used for parts. CWH will be getting a Hawker Hunter, supposedly in airworthy condition, back at the end of the lease. We'll see what happens. Even if CWH does get an airworthy Hunter, the museum will not be able to afford to fly it, and there would need to be many changes in the maintenance system to accomodate jets, and it's not realisticly possible in terms of resources and money.
