Would you contribute money towards a korean war movie ?

How many people are interested in seeing such a movie?/short film to be made?

If by contribute money you mean "Would you buy a ticket to see a Korean war movie or purchase the DVD," the answer is yes, if I thought it would be good.

If you mean, "Would you invest in a Korean war movie in exchange for an equity stake," my answer is probably not, but I wouldn't rule it out if I thought the film might make a lot of money.

Those are the two ways in which people fund such products under capitalism, which is what we were fighting for in Korea.

If you mean, "Would you give money away for nothing so someone else can make a movie," my answer is no. Perhaps the filmmakers should ask the government, which does that sort of thing, although not as much as it used to, because it smacks of socialism which is what we were fighting against in Korea.

Comments above by AUGUST said exactly what I was going to write. I seem to get a lot of offers to "contribute" money so someone can do something they want to do with other people paying for it.

I hate to say it, but that was always the reason I passed on contributing LOTS of $$$$ to help various groups restore or fly various airplanes, other things. It seemed like everytime I got involved in a venture like that that they would forget my name as soon as the check cleared the bank. (for those who want to take it personally, don't I'm not aiming this remark at any particular group or anything; OK its about OUR county airport that about 3 of us built out of our own pockets; and didn't get thanked either; no I'm not bitter)

Not a good thing.

Good luck on doing the movie. I'll buy a ticket and a DVD

If I might chime in...

Depends on who is writing the script and to what end.

The lovable screenwriters of the TV version of MASH???
NFW!!!

Somebody who actually cared to give a truthful version of how many times the US had to take Seoul back from the Commie Rat Bastards?
(ERRR...you can get SUSPENDED from WIX? ERRR I mean "those distinguished Gentlemen from the other side of the 38th Parallel")

Or the heroism of ALL the services (Still love those Aviation stories, but have to, HAVE TO doff the cap and say a prayer for the Frozen Chosen and the poor dumb bastards that fought and ARE STILL FIGHTING TO THIS DAY, to keep the likes of Kim Il Jong out of the South.)

The revisionists and put down artists can always stress the horrible aspects of ANY war, as witnessed on this very forum.
Dresden, Hiroshima, Nagasaki... machine gunning civies on a bridge heading south on the peninsula as inflitrators joined them. THEY ALL TRULY SUCKED when you count up the innocent.
But total up the innocents that the OTHER side killed and get back with me.

So I guess, let's see that screenplay before we talk banking ANY war movies.

Aw crap... you got me started.

NOW that I've had time to reflect...

If it was a movie about B29s, A-26s, Skyraiders, Corsairs, F-82s and F86s (and the others I'm forgetting) dealing death to those scum sucking REDS I might start collecting cans and picking up pennies!

I'd want to see Sean Penn, Marty Sheen and BraBra Streisand give BIG donations to get FIFI and DOC flying again so we could get some real manly man BIG IRON footage!

Love to see the "Bridge" movie remade with the correct aircrews and the planes they flew given credit.

But until then I've got a B17 and an N3N-3 to get flying again.

Braggin'...not complainin'

We happen to have an airworthy F86, well will be when we get our engine back from repair. Would love to see it in a authentic movie. Never say never!

Very well stated.

I'd definately pay to see a film, less motivated to personally or professionally finance such a thing. I know within Australia there are sufficient avenues and opportunities for film makers to seek assistance from local and federal govts, film grants, film finance corporations, etc. Its all about being motivated and seeing the project thru to the end.

can i have free popcorn at the premier?? otherwise no!! with the profit margin these movie companies make it's an insult to ask for money, it's like donald trump asking you to pay for his crappy haircut.

I'd love to see a movie about Jesse Brown and Tom Hudner- talk about bravery and giving it your all (as in your life) to be the first black naval aviator.
