Is this the bird Harry got killed in?

No. I believe that was an AD-4, single seater.

Eric, It flew great. It reminded me a lot of the Corsair, in that the engine noise is less than most fighters. The flight was just to get it home so I didn't really get to wring it out. Hope to do that in the next few weeks. I do plan to add it to our training program in the near future.

Maybe I can come down and get some dual. Seriously, I love flying that airplane. I think it flys more like a T-28 than anything else, but it's not tiny, like the T-28 and has the tailwheel on the right end.

um...Why is there less engine noise? Farther away from the cockpit? More insulation?

Engine's farther away, you sit high, above the exhaust and engine noise.

Harry Doan was killed in ser. 126822, an AD-4N now owned and flown like a fighter by Rick Sharpe of Houston, a member of Lone Star Flight Museum.
Warbird Digest #13, March/April of this year did a feature on Rick and 126822. Air to air pix by Bill Crump.

I love the sound of a big Cyclone!
