Isn't that a picture of what they pulled out of the stomach of a giant squid off the east coast? Just joking.

But, it does appear that the pieces are on the deck of some sort of boat, maybe a troller.

What's the story behind it?

The P-51B that's being restored for Jack Rousch right now had it's beginnings with less that this, sooo....

On April 28, 1945 at 1920hrs evening, Japanese Army -105 Sentai- Ki-61 "Tony" crashed onto hospital ship USS Comfort off of Okinawa. This is a photo from the next morning.

The remains of the wing is in the center...note the right-wing wingtip... under the inverted V-12-cylinder liquid-cooled engine is the right bank side of the exhaust pipe. On the far left is the cam shaft and cylinder head and the right main wheel tire.
