I believe we all appreciate what you have done in founding
WIX. I didn't know it has been 12 years. As for the problems this bruhah caused I regret that and it wasn't intentional. Left or right, pro or con, there are many people with good intentions here. I wish a few more were not so threatened by the idea of open discussion. I don't know where I stand on your list of scoundrels, but in my opinion there are only 2 or 3 guys who are outside the boundaries of civilzed discourse.

Unfortunately I will have to agree with Eric on this one, but if you were to somehow figure out a way to mount a radial engine on the Spitfire, instead of that pesky inline, well now that would make it a whole diferent ball game.

P.S. I am just funnin with you Bill. Different views is what makes the world go around. Just think how boring it would be if we all had the exact same views.

Bill,
It isn't that far fetched, there was a model of the Lancaster that had radial engines (if I remember correctly it was the BII). Also, I am sure that if you are really nice to Gary A. he will find a way to mount a 3350 up there on the nose. :D

There's also the P-36 and P-40 which went from radial to inline, and going in the opposite direction, the Ki-61 and Ki-100 which went from inline to radial.

There was also an air racer that never went much past the bar napkin stage of an R-4360 powered Mustang in the late 1960s.

Ah yes, the IAe'.24 "Calquin" A copy of the Mosquito built starting in 1946 in Argentina. Merlins were not available so they used Pratt and Whitney R-1830's of 1,050 hp. each. Max speed was only 273mph. It was used primartily for the ground atack role. 200 built and of course there aren't any left except for maybe one or two in national museums.
