Warbird Information Exchange

I was flippin' through the pages of the warbird registry and came across B-25H 43-4108. In its history it states:

"US Historical Aircraft Preservation Museum, Anchorage, AK, Mar. 15 1985.
- Registration N58HA reserved.
- Derelict, awaiting collection from Alaskan crash site."

I was wondering if anyone knew the status of this airplane, what condition it was in when discovered and what condition it's in now (or restored state)?

As well, considering on some earlier posts on WIX, is the plane still where in its resting place because of Alaskan regulations regarding the recovery of war artifacts? Or was it able to be recovered?

I do not believe that it was recovered. Several aircraft are listed as such, and still remain where they lie. I believe that the intent was to recover the aircraft, but something must have got in the way... probably finances. Alaska does have a strict prohibition on arbitrary recovery of aircraft, but I believe that Alaskan institutions have a lot easier time getting permission for recoveries.

Thanks for the update. I would think that the airplanes should be able to be recovered if it is an Alaskan institution. It's only fair. It would allow artifacts relevant to Alaskan history to be recovered and preserved in Alaska.
