Heheeehee, yeah, I can see how that would get old fast.

One idea, that would maybe slim the number of these kinda things down is the ole "T.O.S" post. The moderator posts a canned message in the thread, stating the Terms of Service when it looks to be going south. It works remarkably well. Everything seems to simmer down after that.

If I were you I would email Ron the guy who runs the G503.com forums. They had these identical issues and they worked past it really well. If someone makes an annoying post they just delete it. This isn't free speech, this is your property. If someone is deliberately trying to bait people then who really cares if they get offended about their post being deleted. You know the characters around here well enough to know who is deliberately baiting and who is just some novice WIXer who may not know the rules. If someone asks where their post went just send them a canned response saying that it was in conflict with the goals of this site and we have a strict no-tolerance policy.

We need to remember that out there in Colorado where Bill lives, that air is thinner with that altitude, so maybe we need to take that in to consideration, he may be getting some of that altitude sickness,( hypoxia), no kidding, I don't always agree with Bill's views, but if Randy says let it slide ,then that's good enough for me. Most boards have a three strikes policy. Unfortunately I'm surrounded by conservatives, who don't mind insulting me, while claiming their birthrights have been thrashed when I bite back. This still won't keep those cheap shots from happening. So how do we deal with THEM? Telling me to thicken my skin is crap. I shouldn't be forced to deal with it unless I can retailate in kind. And to do that turns it into another Broken Wench pissing match, because they just don't get it.

I think this thread is turning into a good thing. I think that Scott and Co will sort it out. There should be none of it. We're about Warbirds here, and I think it's going to stay that way.

You're right, Thickening your skin is crap. One thing to think of when things like this happens is, would that dude say that to your face? Probably not. And if he did, would you you be as p1ssed as you are? Probably not. I've read read your posts, and you have posted some of your history. My guess is that you would laugh it off, you seem like you could do anything you want to anyone you want, and you don't do it, otherwise you would be posting from Leavenworth.

They're never going to get it buddy. Ever, never, Ever. Thats their problem, not your's.

This is just internet talk. That's it. I know a lot of folks are vehement about what they think, but they would never say those things to my face. I am a lot bigger than them, ex sub sailor, ex infantry, and I don't really look like I am a nice person. It depends on where I am at on the maintenance buzz on what kind of reaction I give when someone talks to me like that. Thats why they probably don't do it to my face.

The internet makes everyone a big person, on the internet that is. Heheeeee

I've stuck my bald head in the original post so I better respond here. I think the point has been made. I think that we all see the decorum we need to maintain on this forum.

Let's keep our focus and return to the foundation of this forum. We are all adults and as such have differing opinions regarding the military nature of this "Warbird" site.

I don't know Bill, so my opinion is based on just what I read here.

Most rich guys I know are smart..that's how they became rich. (Okay, I'm assuming he's rich if he flies a Spitfire and lives in Aspen....then again, maybe he inherited wealth..so the intelligence quesatiuon may be moot ). Given that assumption, I find it hard to believe he didn't know what he was writing...or how it COULD be taken...remember, this is the internet, people can't judge inflection or humor.

At best it was an unintentional cheap shop...rather like a bomb accidently missing it s target.... at worst, libel.
He may have been lulled into a sense of enpowerment by his fellow anti-war, anti-Bush friends who see nothing wrong with very hash personal attacks.

But to me, he sounds more like the guys who spit on my brother when he got off the DC-8 from Vietnam.

Like I say, Bill may be a great guy when he's not talking politics. I'd love to see his Spitfire someday.

But so far, Randy has shown a lot more class with his "forgivness" of the insult than Bill's ill-considered remarks.

PS...Would we be as forgiving of a forum member who didn't fly a neat warbird?

Looks like we had several new members joined wix last night. It looks like every island in the caribean along with represenatives from every other part of the world joined. I think they must really be from Florida . Amazing, all of those people with no posts. All I want to know where Tramadol and Dinny is? . Using the records as a guide, Normally, only 3 to 4 member register a day but untill the Greenwood Poll went in affect traffic went up to roughly to 30 new members a day. There is some serious ballet box stuffing going on.

Hi John, as we normally see eye to eye, even if we don't agree, may I refer you to my post (secoind in the thread)?

As Bluedharma has noticed, Bill said different to me, and yes, it can be read as an attack, and it may (as Bill said) be an innocent mistake. Currently he can't comment. It's in a different league than posting video of a modern Spitfire crash implying it was Bill's a/c as one poster did (and was banned for a while for). Personally, I'd like to see him and Randy work it out and the rest just move on.

As to 'fellow anti-war, anti-Bush friends' I've seen a lot of frankly poor and childish behaviour from numerous people here, and the pack hunting behaviour of political groupies is out of place. I don't expect you to care about my politics, and they've nothing to do with the forum. I also steer away from current events for the same reason. It would be nice if others did the same and weren't so keen to set up straw-targets to knock down.

As Bill's been very happy to share his knowledge, views, and critically, I think, be honest about what he doesn't know, his warbird ownership is an asset to his contribution. I've met a few owners who can't see around their ego, and are highly unpleasant about places like WIX - their loss IMHO.

For the record, WIX gets an average of 30-60 of these "SPAM" accounts each day and Scott and his sister Krista go through, research, and delete fake or bad accounts each day. Unfortunately this is a byproduct of forums like this, and if they didn't delete these, we would be swimming in spam messages asking us to buy male enhancement drugs or the like.

For each legitimate WIX member, there are about 20 spammer accounts that must be waded through. All that work on top of general maintenance and patrolling of the site, kudos to Scott and Krista.

So no, there isn't ballot stuffing, or snarky business dealings going on...

Yes that is true but the day to day average is way above normal and it is easy enough to go back and search the IP address of the New account.. For this vote to be valid each member per say should have a minimum of 50 posts to be included in such a vote other wise it really does not have much merit due to vote election tampering.
